SPANISH VEGETABLES I HAVE, WHO HAS?

PRIMARY SPANISH VEGETABLES KS2 SPANISH VEGETABLES KS3 SPANISH VEGETABLES I HAVE, WHO HAS? This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of vegetables in Spanish. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too - I point out particular phonemes, accents and sounds too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. There are 28 vegetables featured in the game: artichoke; asparagus; aubergine; green beans; beetroot; broccoli; Brussels sprout; cabbage; carrot; cauliflower; celery; cucumber; garlic; leek; lettuce; mushroom; onion; peas; green pepper; red pepper; yellow pepper; potato; sweet potato; radish; spinach; sweetcorn; tomato; zucchini. All the vegetables may not be in my longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective moves beyond simply learning individual units of vocabulary - the images help students infer meaning from context, supported by the visual prompts and clues - this in turn supports them in developing their Spanish language skills in the longer and more complex sentences. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more! The question card template provides an additional learning activity, with students applying their developing Spanish language knowledge creatively and practically, as they make game cards for the class. This is an integral element to successful language learning, and is a really popular activity with my students. FRENCH TELLING THE TIME I HAVE, WHO HAS? #2

FRENCH FOR CHILDREN PRIMARY FRENCH KS2 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH TELLING THE TIME I HAVE WHO HAS TWO GAMES, TWO CHALLENGES : FOCUS ON O’CLOCK, HALF PAST, QUARTER TO AND QUARTER PAST THE HOUR Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be amended, copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary French / KS2 French and KS3 French / KS4 French students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in French, and for pronunciation practice too. There are 8 clock faces per page, and I cut the cards in sets of 2, so four larger cards per page. This means that students can see two clock faces and times per game card, which really helps to consolidate learning. It’s also a lot less prep than cutting out eight individual cards, though I do actually have a set like this, which we use as a larger-size dominoes game. I always laminate my language learning cards - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. We usually set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games. There are two games, each with a different challenge: = Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, J’ai… Qui a… ? = Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order, As-tu… ? Oui (Non), j’ai… Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !

A great way of getting your students talking without feeling ‘on the spot’, or worried about not getting their pronunciation and accent right in front of the whole class. The Q&A prompt cards offer structured talk opportunities, and focus on vocabulary, structures and general knowledge that they are likely to meet in both the beginning and more intermediate stages of their English learning. My students apply their developing English knowledge creatively and practically by crafting their own questions and answers, using the prompts as speaking frames. With focused and frequent practice, they begin to feel more confident about their language skills, using the Notes and Next Steps pages in the reference book to jot down their ideas. We also use the pages to note how they think their skills are developing, and how well they are beginning to understand fully both the range of vocabulary and grammatical concepts. The language in this set is ideal for advanced beginner English students moving into intermediate English, and feature a range of differentiated questions and answers, addressing various aspects of English, such as***forming questions, the use of the present and present continuous tenses, word order*** and so on. This is really important for language learners, who often attempt to impose the grammar and structures of their first language onto the new language they are learning. There’s definitely a cultural and general information flavor to many of the questions, such as What is the London Eye? and How many countries are there in the United Kingdom? They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work - my students frequently select the speaking and writing cards for their free-choice learning activity. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the beginning and into intermediate stages of their Italian learning, including a range of tenses. They’re also useful for GCSE Italian revision. The reference books include all the questions and answers written out in Italian. Students find it a very useful learning support resources and it’s also handy for whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice. Students use the Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning - we use this to guide and inform discussions we have as a whole-group about where students think they are at the moment, and what they think they might like to work a little more on. They also note ideas for creating their own questions, and any new vocab or structures they might learn. The question and answer card writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their Italian very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other, using the reference book as a form of writing frame to help them form their language correctly. This is a great team activity too. We also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with that work really well for us. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. The vocabulary groups are: = verbes français = nombres 81-100 = Quelle heure est-il ? (half past) = en ville = adjectifs = conversation / questions et réponses There are 198 cards in total, and although it’s time-consuming, it’s definitely worth the time to laminate the cards, as they’re far sturdier, and last for years! I give my students a vocab workbook too, and this one has 3 differentiated challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English list, which we use as a year-round reference resource as well. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges in the workbook - my students really benefit from writing out vocabulary independently, and at their own pace - I often give multiple workbooks over a school year - it’s a really successful way of consolidating vocab, as well as practising spelling. There’s a card template too - students enjoy creating game/quiz cards for each other, applying their knowledge in a different way. Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocab. Perfect for developing French language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising numbers 0-21 in French. There are 36 differentiated questions, answer key, recording sheet and number reference sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for cover lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students. All the questions are in French, including a range of French maths language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use***maths symbols as visual clues and prompts***, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. Depending on the particular group, I may read through the questions together as a whole-group first. FRENCH ANIMALS FLASHCARDS #1

PRIMARY FRENCH ANIMALS KS2 ANIMALS KS3 FRENCH ANIMALS FLASHCARDS POSTERS The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These French animals display posters / flashcards create a fabulous French look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of French. They introduce learners to a range of animals in French from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are une. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which is a great opportunity to begin to compare French to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as ours and loup. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from their first language, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, which I’ve found to be really useful for both current and later learning. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel : a turtle / a tortoise : a wolf It doesn’t matter if some of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters / flashcards provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual clues or prompts. There are three sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, each with a different background for you to choose from: French flag, animal footprint or black wave. SPANISH-SPEAKING & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES POSTERS

(2)
BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING POSTERS FLASHCARDS 62 posters / flashcards featuring 21 Spanish-speaking countries and 10 Portuguese-speaking countries with the countries, capital cities and flags, in Spanish. I've found having the posters in my classroom provides an instant introduction to the scope of the Spanish-speaking world, and seeing the countries where Portuguese, rather than Spanish, is spoken, prevents them confusing the two from the very beginning of their learning - my students do often tend to get them a little mixed up! The posters are great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. I often ask quick questions such as ¿Cuál es la capital de...?, ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? or ¿Se habla español o portugués en Brasil? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner language learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important. This works particularly with my beginner Spanish classes, as it's a great way of encouraging them to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish program. I've often found that there can be several (or more!) countries that students don't actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of the wider world. There are two backgrounds to choose from: Spanish / Portuguese flag or plain. Laminate them if you can, as they hang really well, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish-speaking countries resources, with a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning resources, with Spanish dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies. PRIMARY SPANISH TELLING THE TIME KS2 SPANISH TELLING THE TIME KS3 SPANISH TELLING THE TIME SPANISH DECIR LA HORA ANALOGUE CHALLENGE CARDS 2 sets of 60 cards @ £2.25 each in the bundle Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These How to tell the time in Spanish challenge cards are perfect for developing Spanish language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising how to tell the time in Spanish. Each set has 60 cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, with a full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary and structures, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practise how to tell time in Spanish, but also to enjoy working independently with language, and to feel confident about doing so. Students sometimes find learning how to tell the time in another language quite challenging, so the focused practice is really useful. The questions in this set are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, analogue clock times in Spanish, and also to working and learning with challenge cards. I generally work with telling the time in Spanish quite quickly with my beginner Spanish students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. There are two questions: ¿Qué hora es? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. I’ve only used the plural form of the question in these cards. The second question is Verdadero o falso? and students write either verdadero or falso - where the answer is falso remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. It’s also a really popular activity too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. I prepare each set of cards on different colour paper, so that when students are working with both sets, they can organise them into the relevant set really easily. The cards are numbered 1-60 in words, so students should recap those numbers before they work with the task cards. There are Spanish Numbers 0-100 lists in my store which you can download for free - my students find them really helpful. Each set comprises the following non-editable files: 60 cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as the cards are far more learner-friendly, and stay in excellent condition for a long time, so you’ll be able to recycle them for years. 2-page answer recording sheet. Best printed double-sided to save paper. My students generally use their class workbooks to note their answers, though I do use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if possible. For me, answer keys are an integral element to this kind of learning activity. They offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language, and to develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver, which is always a good thing! I distribute one answer key per small group when we’re working with the task cards in class time. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish independent learning activities, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies - I’ve included a couple here for you to try. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

The vocabulary groups are: = les salutations = les couleurs (masculine and feminine) = les parties du corps (singular and plural) = le temps = les nombres 21-40 = les phrases pour la salle de classe = questions et réponses My students love to learn independently, and really enjoy playing the games in pairs or small groups - I’ve described several that work particularly well for them. Even my more advanced students like to revisit the vocab, just to be sure they’re confident with it. It’s best to revisit the vocab regularly and frequently over a whole school year, not just when you’re focusing on these specific vocab groups. They can apply their French practically by creating games or vocab quiz cards for each other using the card template. Writing out vocabulary can also really help learners consolidate their vocab - the 18-page workbook has 3 differentiated recall and write challenges. I always like to give my students longer-term reference resources, so I’ve put a full French-English vocabulary list at the front of the workbook. If you can, do laminate the cards - I know it’s time-consuming, but they look great, are better to work and learn with in the classroom, and really do last in great condition for years. GCSE ITALIAN GRAMMAR KS4 ITALIAN GRAMMAR A LEVEL ITALIAN GRAMMAR KS5 ITALIAN GRAMMAR ITALIAN ARE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE The product is non-editable in a zipped format. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. 6 tenses, 6 workbooks @ 75p each in the bundle, focusing on 25 high-frequency Italian -ARE verbs The tenses are: = present tense (presente) = perfect tense (passato prossimo) = imperfect tense (imperfetto) = future tense (futuro semplice) = conditional tense (condizionale, presente) = pluperfect tense (trapassato prossimo) My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges in each workbook, 900 conjugations in total. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for KS3 & KS4 Italian students who are getting to grips with conjugation in Italian, building their verb vocabulary, and working regularly with more complex texts, which feature a range of tenses, and including authentic resources. They’re also really useful for KS5 Italian A Level Italian students who are beginning their advanced Italian programme. The workbooks focus on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and with the Italian conditional tense for example, those with English as a first language frequently look for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. I see this a lot with the future tense too, and tend to introduce both tenses quite closely together. It’s also easy to confuse the future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written Italian is accurate, and that their understanding of Italian across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Each set is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Italian across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Italian. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. We also note down any new verbs we meet, which enables students to build up their own verb vocabulary bank. It’s a great tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really successful and popular activity. answer key: 6-page booklet which is absolutely essential in my view. Answer keys help students develop more independence in their learning, and provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. They also genuinely enjoy correcting their own - and particularly each others’ - work.
